Chinese industrial contractor Sinoma has recently won contracts in Iraq and Saudi Arabia for the construction of cement and brick production facilities.

Beijing-based Sinoma won a contract from Iraq's Nargis Group for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) work on a 6,000-tonnes-a-day (t/d) cement production line in Basra.

Sinoma’s scope of work on the contract covers EPC of the complete production system, from raw materials handling and clinker preparation to cement grinding, storage and shipping.

总部位于北京的中材国际与伊拉克Nargis集团签约，负责巴士拉地区日产6000吨水泥生产线的工程总承包（EPC）项目。根据合同，中材国际将承担从原料处理、熟料制备到水泥粉磨、储存及发运的全流程生产系统建设。

“The project utilises Chinese technical standards and extensively employs Chinese equipment,” Sinoma said in a statement. “In future, Nargis Group will further expand its cooperation with Suzhou Sinoma in the field of building construction,” it added.

Also in Iraq, Sinoma won a contract from Najmadin Group to provide EPC plus operations and maintenance (O&M) services for a new production line at its brick factory in Sulaymaniyah, in the Kurdistan region.

As part of its contract, Sinoma will execute EPC works on the new production line, which will be the second at the brick factory, with a capacity of 750 t/d, and will also provide O&M services for both the first and second lines.

Sinoma previously performed EPC works on the first production line at the Sulaymaniyah brick factory, having won that contract from Najmadin Group in 2022.

Saudi cement plant contract

In January, Saudi Arabia's Yamama Cement Company awarded Sinoma a general EPC contract covering the integration of engineering design, equipment and materials supply, civil construction, electromechanical equipment installation, commissioning and technical services.

The scope of work on Sinoma’s contract covers the expansion of the batching system for the current three production lines and six cement mills at Yamama’s cement plant in Riyadh, materials conveying connections, the addition of 12 cement and materials storage facilities and unloading systems, as well as a fully automated shipping system.

Prior to this contract, Yamama awarded Sinoma a contract to build a 10,000 t/d clinker line in 2022, eventually awarding the Chinese firm another contract to increase its output capacity to 12,500 t/d. Sinoma finished work on the second contract in November last year.

沙特合作方面，也门水泥公司今年1月授予中材国际综合EPC合同，涵盖工程设计、设备供应、土建施工、机电安装、调试及技术服务。项目内容包括利雅得工厂现有三条生产线及六台水泥磨的配料系统改造、物料输送连接系统建设、新增12座水泥及物料储存库与卸料系统，以及全自动化发运系统。此前也门水泥公司于2022年委托中材国际建设日产1万吨熟料线，后续追加合同将产能提升至1.25万吨/日，该增产项目已于去年11月竣工。
